As you can imagine, facial massage feels incredible! However, there are many significant health benefits from this exercise too and its all based around the drainage of your lymphatic system.
When the lymph is free to drain, refresh and circulate (efficiently), our skin is able to continuously flush toxins out of the body that could have ended up on our face, in the form of inflammation. These massage techniques will keep your facial muscles active, help relieve tension and increase blood flow.

A light touch and gentle hands are better because the lymph is close to the surface and responds better to gentle pressure.

- start with freshly cleansed skin and hands

- apply a skin hydrating booster or facial moisturiser and begin to massage while it absorbs into the skin

- start with your fingers in the centre of your face and move them out to the edge, then     down to the collarbone to be flushed away

1. Place your index, middle and ringer fingers at the top of the neck, just below the ears (outer corner of the jaw). Apply gentle pressure and drag your fingers down the neck until you hit the collarbone.
Repeat 5 times on each side.

2. With your thumb and index finger in a light pinching formation, start in the centre of your chin, with the pad of the thumb pushing into the jawbone and the index finger resting a few centimeters above it. Gently drag your fingers out toward the earlobes along the jaw bone, keeping that slight pinch so it's almost like you're lighting gripping the jawbone.
Repeat 5 times on each side.

3. Make peace signs with your index and middle fingers, with the pads of the fingers facing you. Rotate the peace signs 45 degrees so they bracket your mouth. Apply gentle pressure and move your fingers out toward the edge of your face, pulling up slightly at the end.
Repeat 5 times on each side.

4. Starting at the outer edge of your nostrils, sweep your index and middle fingers along your cheekbones out to the middle of the ear. You'll be able to really feel where the cheekbone is, so no need to go digging for it.
Repeat 5 times on each side.

5. VERY gently, press your ring fingers into the under-eye area. Start under the inner corner and follow around the bottom of the eye until you reach the outer corner.
Repeat 5 times on each side.

6. With your middle fingers, gently press into the eyebrow bone at the inner edge of the eyebrow. Slowly trace the eyebrow out to the temple.
Repeat 5 times on each side.

7. Place the palm of your hand on your scalp so your fingers hang over your forehead. From the centre of your eyebrows, move the fingers up the forehead to the hairline and back. You can lightly run your fingers through the hair for a mini-scalp massage.
Repeat 5 times on each side.

8. Using the same technique as above, start in the centre of the forehead and move the fingers out toward the temple.
Repeat 5 times on each side.

9. With all fingers (excluding your thumbs), start in the center of your forehead and bring your fingers up to your hair. Then, sweep the fingers along the hairline, out and down toward the temples, behind your ears (like you're tucking your hair back) and down the sides of your neck to your collarbone.
Repeat 5 times on each side.

10. Take a deep breath and a moment to appreciate the gift you just gave yo self.
