Surely before we can answer this question with no regrets we need to know what the actual difference is, right? Well we've got it! Plus the best damn Chocolate Almond Torte recipe you have laid your eyes on or filled your gob with!




Ok first things first... Well a torte is actually a type of cake. The difference being a cake is made with ingredients mainly consisting of sugar, eggs, butter and flour. While a torte substitutes the flour for another ingredient, like ground nuts (Almond meal). Which makes most tortes GF too! Hip, hip, hooray!

Fudgy and chocolatey with a slight almond crunch, there’s no one who could resist this simple and beautiful cake!



I N G R E D I E N T S 
- 200g bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, roughly chopped
- 200g unsalted butter, chopped
- 4 large eggs, separated
- 1½ tablespoons brandy, optional
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup almond meal
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- cocoa powder or icing sugar for dusting

 
M E T H O D
1. Preheat oven to 180C. Grease the bottom and sides of a 20cm cake pan.

7. Sift cocoa powder or icing sugar over the cake before serving. Serve chilled, at room temperature or for something super delectable heat a slice up in the microwave for 30 seconds.
